Classroom Placements Protocol

Shining Stars Preschools prioritizes each child’s unique developmental level and social maturity when determining classroom placement. While age is a factor, we believe a personalized approach is crucial for a child’s success. Our Director carefully assesses each child’s strengths and needs to ensure they thrive in their assigned classroom. We offer a range of age-appropriate classrooms, including Infants, Toddler One, Toddler Two, Intermediate, Pre-Kindergarten, and School Age. Placement decisions consider not only age but also social interactions, individual learning styles, and specific interests. We value parent partnerships and encourage them to share insights about their child’s development and preferences. Our goal is to create a nurturing and stimulating learning community where every child can flourish and reach their full potential.

Parent Involvement

Family is a child’s most important influence. At Shining Stars Preschools, we not only welcome but actively encourage parent involvement. You’re welcome to visit your child at any time – lunchtime, naptime, storytime, or whenever you’d like! You can participate in classroom activities or simply observe. We keep families informed through monthly newsletters, regular parent-teacher conferences (and as-needed meetings), family events, and open houses. Shining Stars Preschools is a home away from home for your child, and we want you to feel just as welcome here as they do.

Parent Conference/Progress Report

Parent-teacher conferences are important opportunities to discuss your child’s progress and development. Held twice a year, typically in November and May, these meetings provide a dedicated time for parents and teachers to collaborate and support your child’s learning. You can sign up for your conference through your child’s teacher or the school Director. Child portfolios will also be shared at this time. We believe parent involvement is ongoing, so you can also request a conference with your child’s teacher at any time throughout the year. This flexible approach reflects our commitment to open communication and shared responsibility in your child’s education.

Getting Ready for First Day

Starting in a new environment can cause some anxiety for both children and parents. Our teachers understand these feelings and are prepared to comfort your child as you leave. We’ve found that drawn-out goodbyes often increase anxiety. Talking positively with your child about their time at Shining Stars before arriving can be helpful. When you get to the classroom, say goodbye, reassure your child that you’ll be back, and then leave promptly. If your child is upset, our teachers will offer comfort and quickly engage them in an activity. We know this adjustment period can be challenging for parents as well, so please don’t hesitate to call us during the day to check in on your child.

Before your child’s first day, we require a completed Enrollment Agreement, Registration Information form, and Emergency Information Card (including immunization records). It’s important that parents keep this information current at all times.
